When I was reading the book Introducing Hegel by Lloyd Spencer and Andrzej Krauze I came across a page which talked about Hegel’s “Excerpt Mill.”  When reading, Hegel would jot down everything he ever read by either summarizing the views of the passage he was reading or copying it whole style.  In the passage the author quotes (or paraphrases) Hegel:

I developed “a method excerpting and abstracting” and wrote out (or summarized) long passages in notebooks…I wanted to absorb everything!

This is kinda what the blog is about. An online blog notebook of excerpts and thoughts on all of the various stuff I’m reading at the moment. I will be mostly doing short 100 to 300 word posts of excerpts from the books and articles I’m reading in order to better retain what I’m reading and to remember what I’ve read (like an online library). I will also be uploading notes I’ve taken from classes and other readings that I find interesting.

Also, hopefully it will be helpful for people out there in the internet-blogo-land in finding books they like.
